Brian and Melissa

Well a few things have happened…

1. Yes, I finally went to go get shoes. No, I didn’t buy any. I liked too many, and didn’t like them also… so I left emtpy-footed. So the hunt is still on.

2. So that wicked spa day for Brian was messed up. There are two spas in the same plaza with the same name. It was so hard to book the stupid thing cuz of that. Anyways, the spa looked beautiful in the pictures, and it was super expensive, so I figured it was just like elmwood, which is an amazing spa downtown toronto. So we go to the spa and it’s so beautiful but they can’t find his name. So then she’s like “Ahh it’s the other Caesar Spa down the path”. I knew this would happen, Who has two spas with the same name in the same complex??? So we walk FOREVER to find the other one, which really is technically the same one… and it’s next to the sheraton in some Asian mall. So we find it and there’s this non english speaking lady there who has no idea what i’m talking about, or any idea who we are or what we are there for, and to top it all off it’s not even a spa, it’s like a store in a mall with a little tiny room with a bed in it. *sketch!* . So FINALLY she kinda figures out what i’m saying and she is like “ok you come back in 5 minutes”. So we walk away and i’m like “I soo dont wanna pay all this money for you to go to this random girl in a mall! I paid for a full spa day in a spa!” and Brian was sketched too, so we ditched it. I feel bad cuz now i promised him a spa thing, and he was all excited, but didn’t get it. So i’m gonna re-book something for somewhere more amazing, like Hyatt or maybe Elmwood again. I was so decieved though, it’s ridiculous.

3. We ordered our wedding cake today! It was really weird, before we headed down there we called them to see if we could order today, because we didn’t wanna drive all the way there if we couldnt. It’s like almost an hour away. So they’re like yeah come in at 2:30. So we did.. and the old lady working there is like”No the wedding cake girl isn’t here today, you have to come back tomorrow.”. Brian was like “NO! We drove so far and bla bla” and this really nice man in there iwth his kids felt really bad for us, and kept telling her to take us first before him even though he had been there for a while. So anyways, he goes first and he’s done and we finally get to order our cake. But i’m sketched, cuz it obviously wasn’t the right person there. So I think i’m gonna call them tomorrow and see if they got the order, and if our cake design is even doable. It’s not an elaborate cake but it does have some cool airbrushing on it, whichi ‘m not sure if they can even do. So we’ll see.

Well there is now under three months left until our wedding. You’d think we’d have our cake, invites and band ready.. but nope.

I think we will get the cake on the weekend though. and hopefully finalize the invitations tonight. I also still need to find a makeup and hair person.

We met with our wedding coordinator two nights ago, and she’s gonna recommend someone to me. It’s pretty crazy, we laid out all the details, who’s gonna do what, who’s gonna stand where… everything. So nervous! I’m gonna throw up!

My dress fitting is in a few weeks… they said mid-july. I can’t wait… I totally forgot what my dress looks like. I mean, I know what it looks like, but I forgot what it looks like on me, so I totally can’t wait. And the bridesmaids dresses have come in also. I can’t wait to see everyone walking down the isle and stuff, it’s gonna be gorgeous! HAH ACTUALLY I guess I won’t get to see anyone walk down the isle, cuz i’ll be last. UGH.. yep gonna throw up.

I still think most of the guys haven’t gotten their suits yet. Boys are too lucky. Oh and I still need to buy shoes! I’m so lazy!

So Brian was totally stressed last week, because there was all this bullshit wedding fighting going on. I felt so bad for him. I didn’t know what to do. I just really wanted to cheer him up. He’s happy again now because everything has been resolved… BUT I also got him a spa day. Totally gay, but not really. It’s tons of fun! So tomorrow he’s gonna get all massaged up… swedish massage, foot massage, I think I also got him a “Man’s peticure” lol.. which I think is the same as a regular peticure except there is sports on the tv or something. He’s pretty excited… I hope he enjoy’s it.

We’re still trying to decide on our honeymoon too. We originally wanted to do Vegas, but because we are going there in a couple weeks, we figure we may not wanna go back so soon. I was thinking maybe Paris, or Italy or something would be nice. We’ll see.. but I guess we should book it soon.

So, believe it or not, with just under 3 months to go til the big day, we have still not chosen a band!

Tonight we went to see a band perform at a charity event, called Gruv Funktion. They are young and very upbeat, and reasonably priced. We really like them, and we might book them. The other alternative is a band called “Harmony” but they are $1200 more expensive, and, in that price, there is only a drum machine and not a real drummer! Both bands have our dates marked in their calendars as “tentative,” so we will see what happens. We should know by the end of the week.

We have purchased envelopes for our invitations. We are very excited to print them and send them out.

Wow, I can’t believe it is LESS than 3 months away!

I probably shouldn’t be writing a blog right now. i’m in a crappy crap mood. But i’m also bored. So this’ll probably be one of those that i post and then have to hear about it later from someone and have to take it down. This happens more than you think.
Brian is in the garage setting up our new bbq. Very exciting!! I can’t wait. I’m gonna make us some amazing burgers this weekend. I’ve wanted to use this recipe forever. We aren’t having anyone over tomorrow like originally planned. We’re going to Brian’s parents place instead. So we’re gonna have to break in the bbq with a couple lonely hot dogs or something.

Hmm wedding stuff? OH! So what’s up with companies/businesses not getting back to people? I remember when we were first looking for a venue NO ONE called us back. We would leave several voicemails and barely get anyone calling us back. Like imagine having someone BEG to offer you 10grand and you just dont call them back. They had it in the palm of their hand and didn’t even care.

This was pretty much every venue. The worst being Polson Pier. Polson Pier is The Docks and they have this really cool new venue to get married at. It’s like a big glass box that’s on the lake. It’s amazing. I called the guy 4 times… and he never got back to me. I was at the point where I was just doing it for fun now. Like i’d be at lunch and call him just for fun to see if he’d answer. In total over the span of 3-4 weeks I left over 10 voicemails for this guy to get back to me, or his assistant, or anyone at the Docks. And to this day they still haven’t called me. Even one time I got through to someone and explained how annoying it was that no one was calling back, she was like ‘hmm i’ll go find him’ then she said he was in a meeting but I should leave a message on his voicemail and he’d get back to me he said. So I did. SO now he knows about me. he’s heard 10 voicemails from me, but still doesn’t call back.

I don’t know how companies survive like this?

The same thing happened with our alarm company when we moved into our house. The day after we moved in I called the guy who had the alarm system set up here. I left him a message saying “I want to get this set up ASAP preferably before this weekend. please call me back to sign the contract…” He calls back the next morning and leaves a message saying to call him back with all my details and he will send me a contract. So I did and he never sent me anything. So Brian called and he told brian he would send us one that day. He never did. We called the next day, he said he would send it today. He never did. We went with a new security company. Then a week and a half later he finally sends us the contract. HAHA. Like what the hell?

The most current story is this Oziel guy. He apparently runs a ton of wedding bands in Toronto. A lot of which are crappy. He’s sorta peiced together a band for our wedding. which we’re both not too happy about, but we don’t really care anymore. It’s kinda pricey and he isn’t giving us drums, so it’s weird. Anyways, we called him like 4 or 5 times before we got a response. Then once we got a response he said he’d email us a ton of stuff but of course never did. (And no, nothing is wrong with my email.) So I think it was like 2 weeks before we randomly heard from him again with the contract. This is the best part coming up…. it’s been like well over a week since we received it… and we have NOT signed it or sent it back. And he has not called us to confirm anything… like seriously… if you ran a business and some dude had your contract to sign a band for September… you think you might follow up? Ugh. So stupid.

Hmm oh so last night we bought a wedding ring. So weird. We went to a few places the past two weeks looking for one, but nothing looked as good as the Tiffany’s one that matches my engagement ring. So Brian got me that one. I love it in Tiffany’s, it’s so sparkly. I’m super excited because the inside of it is engraved Tiffanys & CO, and so is my engagement ring… I had no idea until last night that it was. Not that I care for the name or anything (Ok I kinda do)… but it’s cool that it’s engraved.

So after tiffany’s we were hungry and it was so nice out so i’m like “lets try Sassafraz”. So we ate dinner on Sassafraz patio. I can’t even begin to describe how amazing it was. The food was insane. LIke seriously so insane, that I haven’t been able to eat anything fullfilling since. All I want is Sassafraz. So much so that we are going there for BREAKFAST tomorrow. Like driving all the way down there for a ridiculous breakfast. But so amazing. And hte people there are weird. Like disgustingly loser rich people who talk about crazy stuff. I swear to god there was this old man there picking up these three hot girls, so beyond dirty. He was really smooth, it was hillarious… we were obsessed with listening to their conversation. At the end of their dinner they all left together. We were there for at least two hours, eating super slow and everything. It was just so amazing. It’s our all time fave restaurant now.

Beef tenderloin with potatoes and blue crab meat, over some sort of delicious corn and veggie puree, and then chipotle foam or something. The amazing part of it was the meal was so beyond sweet. Like it was super sweet with the corn and crab… but as you drag it out off the plate it hits the chipotle foam and gets really spicy. It’s freaking insane.

Then for dessert I got a hot chocolate that i can’t even describe to you. And we got this lemon cheesecake freshly baked on shortbread with blueberries and this blueberry sauce that tasted like UGH i can’t even explain. OH AND on top of it was this scoop of white something. It wasn’t cream, or ice cream, or sugar, or frig I dunno. I still ahve no idea. It tasted like what I picture yummy clouds to be. HAHA.

So after breakfast tomorrow morning we’re gonna go get our envelopes for our wedding invitations, and I might go to Nine West to check out shoes for the wedding.
Ok, enough for now. hehe. The wedding is like 3 months and like 2 days away. It’s crazy!!!!

Well it seems everything is coming together. We have our food tasting coming up, the invitations are going to be printed this week. We are waiting for a band to get back to us, and the bridesmaids I hear have gotten their dresses.

Still waiting to hear about my dress, also I have to find a make up and hair person still. Uh I guess that it’s. About 3 months left till the wedding. Eek!

Ooh! I think we should go get our cake set up soon. The bakery said they don’t need much notice… I hope 3 months is okay. We should probably go this weekend or something.

We also went looking for wedding rings last week. There is one at Tiffany’s that matches my engagement ring, so i think i’m getting that one. No one in Toronto has the ring that I wanna get Brian.. but Las Vegas does. So it’s a good thing we’re going there in 5 weeks!!!!!

Oh AND I still need to buy shoes. I’m so busy I have no time for shoe shopping! Being in the house in the summer it’s too hard to go to the mall, I never wanna leave here. The only place we go now is Canadian Tire to buy gardening things. And Home Depot for a bbq, but i’m not getting into what happened at Home Depot. Needless to say we do not have a bbq. But we went and bought one somewhere else and are getting it delivered on Saturday. Brian invited his family over for Father’s day that day, and we can all have a big bbq… sounds really nice! I’m so excited, I love throwing things at the house here!
