Bands
Author: Brian
So, believe it or not, with just under 3 months to go til the big day, we have still not chosen a band!
Tonight we went to see a band perform at a charity event, called Gruv Funktion. They are young and very upbeat, and reasonably priced. We really like them, and we might book them. The other alternative is a band called “Harmony” but they are $1200 more expensive, and, in that price, there is only a drum machine and not a real drummer! Both bands have our dates marked in their calendars as “tentative,” so we will see what happens. We should know by the end of the week.
We have purchased envelopes for our invitations. We are very excited to print them and send them out.
Wow, I can’t believe it is LESS than 3 months away!

Well it seems everything is coming together. We have our food tasting coming up, the invitations are going to be printed this week. We are waiting for a band to get back to us, and the bridesmaids I hear have gotten their dresses.
Still waiting to hear about my dress, also I have to find a make up and hair person still. Uh I guess that it’s. About 3 months left till the wedding. Eek!
Ooh! I think we should go get our cake set up soon. The bakery said they don’t need much notice… I hope 3 months is okay. We should probably go this weekend or something.
We also went looking for wedding rings last week. There is one at Tiffany’s that matches my engagement ring, so i think i’m getting that one. No one in Toronto has the ring that I wanna get Brian.. but Las Vegas does. So it’s a good thing we’re going there in 5 weeks!!!!!
Oh AND I still need to buy shoes. I’m so busy I have no time for shoe shopping! Being in the house in the summer it’s too hard to go to the mall, I never wanna leave here. The only place we go now is Canadian Tire to buy gardening things. And Home Depot for a bbq, but i’m not getting into what happened at Home Depot. Needless to say we do not have a bbq. But we went and bought one somewhere else and are getting it delivered on Saturday. Brian invited his family over for Father’s day that day, and we can all have a big bbq… sounds really nice! I’m so excited, I love throwing things at the house here!
Everything is almost done! (Finally)

Neither of us has posted anything in a long time, so I thought I would write a short update.
Almost everything is booked for the wedding now, except for the band and the invitations, both of which we are almost ready to finalize. I can’t believe it is only 5 months away!
And…… the offer that we placed on our dream house was accepted!! So in one month, we move to Richmond Hill! We’re both a little nervous about the change, but we know it is the right move for us both short-term and long. It is a great little community up near Lake Wilcox, and we look forward to being part of it. Now the quest in on to look for a second car that is just as fuel-efficient than our Yaris!
I will post photos of the house as soon as I can get some.
Invitations

Melissa and I finally got our engagement party invitations printed today. I can’t believe how difficult it was finding someone who could print #10-sized card stock. They told us it would be better if we printed 2 or 3 invitations on standard 8.5×11 card stock and then cut them up afterwards. But we called a Print Three location that was willing to try it out, and it worked out fine.

Invitations

No wedding dress shopping today. Apparently you need an appointment to go… especially on a Saturday. So i’ve made appointments for next weekend.
Instead we went to buy paper for our engagement party invitations. We went to Office Depot last night to look for paper, but they obviously didn’t have anything. So I knew of a place on Queen West that had some nice paper, but I looked for other places to go to, because I hate going near work on the weekend.
I found a paper store in Yorkville called Paper Things. So we drove down there to check it out. I think Brian wanted to check out Staples and Grand and Toy, but I know we both have a very distinct style we had in mind, and I didn’t think any office supply stores would match that style. I think it’s funny how so many people won’t shop in Yorkville because they think it’s all so expensive. I love shopping in Yorkville, it’s a really nice atmosphere, and fine there are stores there that we don’t have anywhere else in Toronto, and those stores are expensive, but everything else is the same.
So we spent about 45 minutes in Paper Things… the lady working there was so helpful and amazing and nice. She took her time talking to us about the paper and everything. We saw a few things we liked, but they were kind of plain. Then the one we did like wouldn’t print in an ink jet. Then I saw some single sheets and they were absolutly perfect!!. Everything we wanted!!

We’re so excited… i’ve spent the last 2 straight hours designing the invitation in Photoshop, and i’m currently downloading InDesign so I can lay it all out for print.
Paper Things is such a great store though, I wanted to buy so much crap…and for no reason. I really liked the sales girl there though, totally amazing, plus she gave us a ton of free paper and envelopes just in case we made mistakes… but like she gave us a ton! She also said if they didn’t print right we could bring all the paper back, which is awesome.
This is such a great cost saver, these invites would have been over 300.00, but since we’re doing them ourselves, they’re much less. And there’s no reason we can’t do them ourselves, we know the exact design we want.
So once InDesign is done downloading, i’ll place it all for print and we can print our first one out! We also got these amazing gel pens to write everyone’s address on. I can’t wait to see the first one printed!! I also can’t wait for the party!!!!!
