Booked!!
Author: Brian
Melissa and I are thrilled to announce that, pending any unforeseen circumstances, we have booked our venue and a date for our wedding!!!!
And it’s not Las Vegas.
We will be getting married on Sunday, September 14, 2008. The venue is the Eglinton Grand, located near Yonge and Eglinton. We are both thankful and thrilled to have found this gorgeous venue, and to the events coordinator there, Francesca, who was willing to spend a whole hour with us on a Saturday to show us around and actually sit down with us and discuss everything in great detail.
We couldn’t be more happy during this important moment in our lives. The venue booking, and later today, the rabbi booking, are the 2 important first steps in this long process. Now that we have a date, a venue, and an officiator, we can really concentrate on the remaining details which will truly make our wedding our wedding. We’re really looking forward to picking out a dress for Melissa, tuxedos for the men, dresses for the bridesmaids, wedding invitations, flowers, centrepieces, music, a photographer, videographer, and whatever else we have to do.
I’d like to extend special thanks to our parents, who have given us their blessing to book everything thus far. I know there will be challenges ahead, and we don’t always agree on things, but I know that we will work things out, like we always do. I would also like to extend a special thanks to my grandparents, who were there to turn to this week when Melissa and I were feeling upset about things. You have uplifted our spirits once again and will remain a very influential part of our lives. I am very lucky to have grandparents like you!

11:15pm, Brian’s dad fixes stuff in our condo. Too bad he doesn’t work for the building. I like handy people.
11:20pm, That’s right now… Brian’s dad is doing something to our sink. lol. and Brian’s mom is talking about Sonic. My parents are also talking about Sonic.
Sonic is such a jerk. Takes up all the attention, and he knows it. That’s why he’s not invited to the wedding.
I wanna have people over more often, this is too much fun. I love having the condo full with people, it’s really nice!!!
The Meeting of the Parents (And I’m procrastinating)
Author: Brian
Well, our parents are going to come over tonight to discuss weddings, and anything else that parents discuss. We have about 2 hours to clean up the place. We’ve been on it all day, and went out and bought some things from Ikea(even though we hate it there) make the place look really nice. Most of which we can’t even install right now… although Brian is in the bedroom putting our MALM dresser together. I’ve dusted, swept, and all that… laundry, making the bed, lots of cleaning, so it looks presentable.
It’s funny how just three years ago my mom would tell me to clean my room because we had people coming over, and i’d just throw a fit and lock myself in there, or leave the house. Like, don’t tell me what to do kind of attitude. Look how the tables have turned. (Actually, it was obviously way more than three years ago)
I’m such a procrastinator, I should be finishing cleaning the counter, or picking up the clothes in the bedroom, but i’m writing this blog instead. Which isn’t about anything, but at least it’s killing time.
So our parents have met before, about two thanksgivings ago I think. We had turkey. Imagine, I have to cook a thanksgiving meal, the biggest meal ever, a meal for 6 people -more than i’ve ever had to cook for before, and it’s the night our parents first meet, and Brian and I had just had an argument that morning so we were both in really terrible moods.
But, since the only thing i’m good at (aside from making lists) is dealing with pressure, it was around 3pm and they were gonna be there in an hour or two, we were so nervous we wanted to throw up, the turkey had just been basted, the crucial part was coming up soon, where you have to start making the potatos, setting the table, etc… so what do we do? We each had a glass of wine, and I went to take a bubble bath. and just hoped for the best. It all went very well though, I think they got along.
So tonight they meet again, and i’m hoping it goes just as well. They’ll be here for tea, dessert, and in between that we’ll see what kind of wedding talk comes up. We’re really looking forward to it, because we love having people over!! We never have people over here! We just don’t wanna argue about wedding stuff… I think it’s been about a week since we’ve gone to our parents places and talked weddings, and we’ve been really calm so we wanna keep it that way.
Although since all our plans are shot, I guess we really can’t argue anyways… since not even us knows what we want.
Oh, and we found a couple more rabbis… so we’ll see how that goes next week.
In non wedding talk, and just beceause I wanna say it… we just bought this new carpet, and it’s so amazing. I’ve been sitting on the floor for 3 days now. It’s amazingly amazing. Everyone should come over and walk on it. It’s so delicious and plushy.
HAH I’m just remembering the blog I wrote a few days ago saying how we were gonna not spend tons of money on stuff. And since then, we’ve been drowning the wedding talk with shopping, and we’ve bought so much crap it’s ridiculous. We bought a Playstation 3, we bought Rock Band and a bunch of other games, we bought the carpet, new lighting, the Malm, spend spend. I also bought a chapstick, cranberry juice, and new nail polish today. OOH i should go do my nails. Total procrastinator!
