Brian and Melissa

Okay, so it’s 6:30pm and I have to run out to meet Melissa in a second to go home, but I just wanted to say that WEDDINGS ARE EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!! OMG.

I was calculating final budget details, and everything is WAY more expensive than we originally thought it would be. I guess when you’re planning, you’re caught up in the moment and even though you start off with a target budget (which you already find is really high), you end up making exceptions everywhere for that “nicer” touch here and that “classier” touch there. And before you know it (or in this case, after), you’ve completely blown your budget and all the cheques are due and you’re feverishly checking your account to make sure all the money is there!!! AAAAHHH!!

So would I plan it differently if I could?? Absolutely. I would make a strict plan and stick to it. No questions asked. Can I plan it differently now?? NO! So………… if you’re reading this, and you’re invited to the wedding, ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!! It’s going to be quite the show!

I realized today that it has been a very long time since I’ve written anything on here! And despite the fact that I’m super busy at work, I thought I’d take the time to give a quick update.

I can’t believe the wedding is only 2 weeks away. I keep going through these phases where 1 day I’ll be in total panic mode and be worried that I’m not going to get everything done, and then the next day Melissa will be in panic mode and I’ll be the one who calms her down and tells her not to worry. I know that no matter what happens, the wedding will be great! There isn’t a lot left to do anymore. The rehearsal is booked for the Wednesday before the wedding, and I know Melissa is super-nervous about it. She’s terrified of the attention she is going to receive when she walks down the aisle. I have marched in a few weddings before (Jodi and Neal’s) so I’m a little more used to it. I’m just more nervous about actually forgetting to bring something or forgetting to pay someone or forgetting to do something I need to do. The worst part is we’re leaving for our honeymoon for 2 weeks right after, so once we head down to the Eglinton Grand on the day of the wedding, we probably can’t come back home if we forgot anything! We have to pack our suitcases and organize our passports and US money all before the wedding, in addition to all the wedding stuff.

OH MY GOD. I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M GETTING MARRIED. I dunno what happened, but I guess cuz we were so busy planning everything, and now we don’t need to plan anymore… it kinda just hit me yesterday. It’s crazy!!!!!!!!!!


We were talking about it, and I was like what the hell.. how did this happen? Like, totally met some random guy off the internet six I guess, seven years ago and now i’m getting married? AH!! It’s crazy! I love it! I’m so excited. This is one of the first times i’ve been super excited, just cuz I haven’t had time to think. We’re both super excited!

Yesterday we picked out our cake. Well two weeks ago we picked out our cake. Actually 7 months ago. We knew exactly what we wanted our cake to look like, like a day after we got engaged. And two weeks ago we went to Isaacs bakery to get it done and then two days later they called us and said they couldn’t do it. So I emailed our wedding coordinator (who is awesome) and she gave me the name of two places. I called the first place Once upon a cake, and we got an appointment with her yesterday. It was literally a 5 minute meeting, she said it broke a new record. I guess it’s because we were both so set on what we wanted that it was really easy. She said it was really nice seeing a groom and bride agree on the same thing and both have input and stuff because she never see’s that. We said, we’re always like that. Brian and I have the EXACT same style, tastes, etc… so it’s why we agree on everything. And if something comes up that we don’t agree one, usually one of us convinces the other. Like modern gothic, right Brian?

Then after cake lady (who said some horrible things about Zuchter Burk, nothing that I hven’t heard before… but just another addition to why I didn’t want them catering) Brian called his parents while we were driving back and asked them to make the decision on who’s catering the wedding. This has been up in the air forever, so much so that we missed our tasting with Eglinton Grand. So they decided we’re gonna have Eglinton Grand’s caterers do it kosher style. Like, we both freaked out!!!! We were so excited. The wedding feels so amazing now!! This is soooooo what we wanted!! And for so many reasons (save for another blog later). So we went out last night and celebrated at Sassafraz again. LOL! We can’t stop. It’s just so good.

Today we are going to our friend Guin’s wedding in Niagara Falls. We’re really excited we love going to weddings and stuff now. Plus Guin is awesome. And so is Niagara Falls. So everyone wins. Even Big Oil.

Lots more to say but I have to go get ready, I am getting ANOTHER make up trial today from someone else. Because i’m still not satisfied. I’ll update again tonight with a HUGE update that involves something that rhymes “omfg my d_ess is in and I am going for a f_tting next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” also some awesome Bridal Shower blog coming up too!

Well there is now under three months left until our wedding. You’d think we’d have our cake, invites and band ready.. but nope.

I think we will get the cake on the weekend though. and hopefully finalize the invitations tonight. I also still need to find a makeup and hair person.

We met with our wedding coordinator two nights ago, and she’s gonna recommend someone to me. It’s pretty crazy, we laid out all the details, who’s gonna do what, who’s gonna stand where… everything. So nervous! I’m gonna throw up!

My dress fitting is in a few weeks… they said mid-july. I can’t wait… I totally forgot what my dress looks like. I mean, I know what it looks like, but I forgot what it looks like on me, so I totally can’t wait. And the bridesmaids dresses have come in also. I can’t wait to see everyone walking down the isle and stuff, it’s gonna be gorgeous! HAH ACTUALLY I guess I won’t get to see anyone walk down the isle, cuz i’ll be last. UGH.. yep gonna throw up.

I still think most of the guys haven’t gotten their suits yet. Boys are too lucky. Oh and I still need to buy shoes! I’m so lazy!

So Brian was totally stressed last week, because there was all this bullshit wedding fighting going on. I felt so bad for him. I didn’t know what to do. I just really wanted to cheer him up. He’s happy again now because everything has been resolved… BUT I also got him a spa day. Totally gay, but not really. It’s tons of fun! So tomorrow he’s gonna get all massaged up… swedish massage, foot massage, I think I also got him a “Man’s peticure” lol.. which I think is the same as a regular peticure except there is sports on the tv or something. He’s pretty excited… I hope he enjoy’s it.

We’re still trying to decide on our honeymoon too. We originally wanted to do Vegas, but because we are going there in a couple weeks, we figure we may not wanna go back so soon. I was thinking maybe Paris, or Italy or something would be nice. We’ll see.. but I guess we should book it soon.

Well it seems everything is coming together. We have our food tasting coming up, the invitations are going to be printed this week. We are waiting for a band to get back to us, and the bridesmaids I hear have gotten their dresses.

Still waiting to hear about my dress, also I have to find a make up and hair person still. Uh I guess that it’s. About 3 months left till the wedding. Eek!

Ooh! I think we should go get our cake set up soon. The bakery said they don’t need much notice… I hope 3 months is okay. We should probably go this weekend or something.

We also went looking for wedding rings last week. There is one at Tiffany’s that matches my engagement ring, so i think i’m getting that one. No one in Toronto has the ring that I wanna get Brian.. but Las Vegas does. So it’s a good thing we’re going there in 5 weeks!!!!!

Oh AND I still need to buy shoes. I’m so busy I have no time for shoe shopping! Being in the house in the summer it’s too hard to go to the mall, I never wanna leave here. The only place we go now is Canadian Tire to buy gardening things. And Home Depot for a bbq, but i’m not getting into what happened at Home Depot. Needless to say we do not have a bbq. But we went and bought one somewhere else and are getting it delivered on Saturday. Brian invited his family over for Father’s day that day, and we can all have a big bbq… sounds really nice! I’m so excited, I love throwing things at the house here!
